FORWARD, ALWAYS FORWARD

Product updates 10/10

Hey there! 🙋🏼‍♂️

Today it’s not only a 10/10 kind of day because it’s 10th of October.

We are getting closer to our first fully industrially made version of our shoes. Today, production for our updated upper will be finalized, and we will also have our first set of outsole production molds completed.

This means we are closer than ever to find out if our product vision works out in reality and if we were able to improve function and design with this version.

A scary but equally exciting moment and we can’t wait to hear from our partners during manufacturing and of course to hold our shoes in our own hands.

I just received the first little tease:

Manuel, please get back to the factory!

Why are we changing things? 🏭

Time to update from 3D printed soles to the real deal.

While testing our prototypes, we obviously still found issues that we needed to enhance in the industry version of our shoes.

Our sole manufacturer advised us through this process, as 3D printed soles behave completely different compared to injected soles. Safety’s first, and we had to adapt to some industry standards to ensure producibility.

Still, there is no foolproof formula to fix all of it in one shot.

We are doing changes to the sole design to improve the functionality of our sole system, we are changing the sole material to enhance the comfort and durability, and we are changing the upper to improve the fit and well-feeling during wear.

In the end we are building something that is far from the ordinary and we put great care into fine-tuning every aspect. So change is inevitable.

Product feature: Recycled Footbed đź‘Ł

Comfy and replacable!

Last week, I explained a little about our upper material. Now it’s time to look at what’s inside.

We have developed an anatomically shaped and removable footbed that offers the right amount of cushioning. It is covered with a recycled microfibre that absorbs any moisture. The bottom is a combination of granulated recycled cork with an partly recycled foam.

Whew, many big words. Let me break this down:

  • Is it comfortable? I can assure you, it is. The foam and cork work really well together.

  • Does it smell after all day wear? No, as moisture can evaporate easily.

  • Is it sustainable? Yes and no. It is made from recycled parts, which is arguably better than using virgin materials.

  • Can I use my own footbeds? Yes! Just swap them out should you need to wear your custom insoles.

So, what’s next?

Stay focused!

We will keep pushing all things related to the launch. The challenge is not to freeze like a rabbit in the headlights with all the challenges ahead.

One thing at a time, step by step.

That’s all for today.

See you next week!

Best
