Launch Letter #7

Good Evening people!

Long time no speak.

For the first time since April, I had to skip 1 sequence of our weekly news..

My excuse? Mid-Campaign we got a ‘boat load’ of requests from the yachting industry.

It appears that nobody likes dirty shoes anywhere. Not at home. Not on a boat.

Today’s about why I traveled the French Rivieria 72h before our final sale.

Starting at METS 🇳🇱

My first touch point with yachting was at the Trade Show for Marine Equipment.

On my way there, I briefly talked to a Dutch friend who lives on a boat because well … he is Dutch.

He confirmed how much sense it would make for crew and captain who constantly go on and off board while trying to avoid any bit of dirt on the fine teak decks..

So despite me being the new kid on the block, I was confident going into it.

Boot & Fun 🛥

After pitching our concept to brands and chandleries.. I had to talk to actual yachties. So I got myself a ticket for the Boot & Fun and a train ride up to Berlin.

Ideally, we would have resgistered for a stand, but knocking at the organisiers door in 24h wasn’t the smartest idea.

But still, I ended up talking to 100 people in 1 day. How? People were there to see the boats. Each time they got on board they had to take off their shoes or carry toppers. Not me!

To be fair, they couldn’t have made it easier for me. The reactions were wild.

Modifox goes Monaco

Okay.. I talked to brands. I talked to private boat owners. But not to the actual crew that work on bigger yachts..

I had to go to the place for boats. The French Riviera. Originally, I tried going by train. But +50h back and forth were just too much.

So I booked a flight, compensated my emissions and got going. I know, I’m not perfect.

Monday morning at 3:30AM I woke up. By 10AM I touched down in Nice. By 12AM I was at the port in Antibes, talking to yachts and brands.

Best thing I heard was the cheerful comment by a British crew lead, saying ‘Well, changing shoes when going on and off board is a pain in the arse.. you got that right.’

So, I went home with pockets full of business cards.. Big news coming soon.

Now.. 15 hours left!

Anybody out there always waiting for the last second before a door shuts? That’s me, so I can relate.

Good news: It looks like we get to see the final day of our Kickstarter campaign. By now, we achieved 113% funding with over 17.000€ in pre-orders.

If you thought getting a Kiss, now is the time.

What’s next? 🫡

If you made an order through Kickstarter, we will get into the details next week.

Specifically we ask you for the right colour and sizing to make sure that your shoes fit you and your style.. but again, that’s next week. Don’t worry.

Also, if there’s anything that you are still uncertain about, it’s my job to give you all the answers.

So you wanna get something of your chest? Let me know.

That’s all from me. Thank you all so much for your support.

Happy final campaign tomorrow… I save the merry christmas for later.

Best,
Devin
